The Dolphins Business Alliance continues its commitment to player development off the field.

The Miami Dolphins kicked off 2022 training camp last week with the rookies reporting to the team’s facilities. This week, the veterans gathered at the Miami Gardens, bringing the entire team together for the first time this summer. While the Dolphins are in full football mode preparing for the regular season — and hopefully, a run to the postseason — football isn’t the only focus for the franchise during the offseason.

During the season, the Dolphins use the offseason as an opportunity to prepare players for life after football. From February 28 to March 4, 2022, the Dolphins hosted the program’s sixth-annual edition of the Dolphin Business Combine. DBC, created by group owner Stephen Ross, offers “seminars and networking opportunities focused on real estate, entrepreneurship, business leadership, business and wealth management,” according to the group’s website.

Former Dolphins linebacker Spencer Paysinger attended DBC in 2017. After the experience, he wrote: “My notebook has 32 pages of notes on the front and back. Every page is bursting with quotes, lessons and strategies, all to offer advice in relation to my activities outside of football. Going into my 7th year of playing in the NFL, I don’t know where I’m going to end up, or if I’ve ever played my last. However, I will take this opportunity to study Mr. Ross as soon as possible. Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up Hurry up, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up, hurry up )”

Cornerback Jason McCourty, who retired earlier this month after this year’s DBC, posted about it on Instagram:

“Participating in the 2022 Dolphins business combine was the best on-field experience I’ve had in my 13-year NFL career,” McCourty added, according to MiamiDolphins.com. “The business alliance has helped us find resources to develop and grow outside of the football facility. The event has allowed us to build quality relationships, the knowledge to ask the right questions, and the opportunity to move forward and grow in any entrepreneurial space. We hope to one day be about business in all 32 NFL cities.” We will talk about working together.

“The Miami Dolphins are the only team that has the resources to put together an immersion trade,” Dolphins director of player engagement Caleb Thornhill said on the team’s website. “Our players need to be fully invested in their football career both on and off the field. The founders, companies, executives, former players and hundreds of others gave our players unique knowledge and wisdom that will last a lifetime. The seeds planted this week will grow into something powerful for each player and that’s what makes the Dolphins trade one-of-a-kind.

DBC offers players the opportunity to not only meet high-level executives, but also to visit local small businesses, start-up companies and franchisees in South Florida. The focus of the event is to enable players to position themselves while still playing and start planning for their day after the game. They are encouraged to develop their brand and make connections that will help them during and after their football career.

After the 2021 DBC, safety Eric Rowe told the team’s website:

“This year’s Dolphins Business Alliance was as effective a virtual event as it was physical. It’s my straight year and every year I learn something new from different celebrities and companies. The Dolphins Business Combination helps me step out of my comfort zone, expand my knowledge and make life-changing connections. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of an organization that helps me be the best version of myself on and off the field.

Safety Javon Holland participated in this year’s DBC, after which:

“The Dolphins Business Combine was an opportunity to step into the world of business and enhance the off-season. People have explained what real estate is to me in short conversations, but not in the depth we’ve had this week. This is an opportunity to see real estate first-hand with hands-on experience from classroom to real estate site visits. We had the opportunity to compete by developing a concept and pitching it in front of judges. This experience allowed us to learn more about my teammates, work toward goals, and execute in front of our peers. I look forward to participating in Business Combinations for many years to come.”
