Celebrity stylist Miranda Holder weighs in on Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s style in an exclusive interview Express UK.
The stylist pointed out that Kate and Meghan’s fashion sense is mainly influenced by their respective countries.
“Kate [is] Traditional, British, Classic. Regal, [but] Miranda spoke about the Princess of Wales.
The stylist said Kate knows “how to be royal” and feels pressured by her “important position” and “weight”. So the princess takes her clothes “seriously.”
As for the Duchess of Sussex, Miranda admits her approach to fashion contrasts with Kate’s, as she “comes from the land of freedom and opportunity.”
“America is a land of great promise. I mean, anyone can go there and be accepted in theory. Anyone can go out there and do it,” Miranda said.
“It’s more relaxed, more expressive. Like it or not, we still don’t have a class system in the UK. It still exists because it is embedded unconsciously in our heritage and culture. That didn’t hold Megan back.
According to the stylist, the Duchess of Sussex is not afraid to express herself and be natural and say who she is, which means America. Accepting it for you, not holding back and just walking away.
However, Kate said: “She’s very much about following the rules, being careful and being a bit more realistic. I think it sums up the essence of the country if you like it.
The reason for this comparison is mainly because Kate is in “the predicament of royal etiquette” while Meghan is more “California chic, natural and good.” Meghan looks the best casually but Kate looks the best on a regular basis.
In addition, the expert speculated that Meghan influenced Prince Harry as his style became more casual because there were such big changes in weather and lifestyle.
