The Canyon Crest Academy class provides students with real-life business experience

Brian Baum’s Advanced Business Class Students at Canyon Crest Academy are trying their hand at running real-life businesses. Here are some of the projects that students came up with, all with a charitable component.

Boba Buddy
Boba Buddy is a company dedicated to providing affordable and delicious boba tea to CCA students. The students have a stand every Friday in the student parking lot that offers flavors like Classic French Vanilla Milk Tea, Mango Tango Tea, and Strawberry Odd Tea.

“Here at Boba Budi, we hope to benefit our community,” Boba Budi CEO Drew Schiffer said in a news release. “We work with the Immigrant Scholarship Fund, a student-run charity that raises funds serving San Diego’s immigrants with the promise of higher education.”

A total of 10% of Boba Buddy’s revenue is donated to the Refugee Scholarship Fund, allowing them to make a real difference in the lives of many students.

International T-shirts
Students Max Meinert, Susanna Nandipati, Darrell Chu and Aksel Kukkonen have teamed up to run a t-shirt company called Global.

Global wants to “give more to the world than a t-shirt” – each shirt will have prints designed by children from impoverished communities around the world, with a percentage of each purchase going directly back to the children. The artwork for the first three designs comes from teenage girls in Afghanistan.

“Through our association with children from underprivileged backgrounds, our brand offers connection, unique designs and an opportunity to give back,” Meiner said in a news release.

Posh
Pawsh is a student-run business that creates a custom dog kit box complete with a dog brush, squeaky toy, handmade rope toy, and dog-themed keychain.

Seniors Conchi Gordillo, Justin Bogucki and Emma Chan and sophomores Adina Olson and Russell Neumann decided this was an amazing business to share because “we know how much Del Mar loves their dogs and we do too.”

Pawsh makes all of their leashed toys and packs by hand and donates 10% of their profits to the San Diego Humane Society, to help dogs in need. They sell their products on Instagram, Tik Tok, their website and in person at bake sales and pop-up shops on campus.
