2022 is drawing to a close, and it’s been an exciting year to say the least. As the pandemic begins to ease, we find ourselves striving for a sense of normalcy. Or maybe, as seen in the fashion world – we push back – we’re looking smarter, chicer and bolder than ever. This year was full of amazing fashion seasons, and we’ve rounded them up here for your reading pleasure. From elegant bridal looks, and gown collections everywhere, from high camp to couture – we’ve got all the bases covered.

While we’re starting with Flames, we have to start with Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s pregnancy announcement. While there were whispers of a baby on board, with compelling evidence via the Twitter grapevine – this shot put all the rumors to rest. In true New York fashion, the two were dressed to the nines and strolled down the cement streets hand in hand. Rocky’s look was somewhat casual, in which black boots and patent leather trousers were teamed with a knitted sweater, a Carhartt denim jacket and a beanie. On the other hand, Rihanna was carrying a baby – so there was no other option but to shine. Dressed in super long ripped jeans, the star of the show was that bright pink vintage Chanel puffer jacket. She left the button down, added gorgeous jewelry and beads to show off her bump, adorning her stomach. Very beautiful!
Copernicus Cat

Next up is Miss Doja Cat. She was making some serious waves in this absolutely sensational look she wore to the Grammys in April this year. Sparkling, extravagant and bejeweled – Doja Cat looks a vision in a sky blue Versace gown. Floor length, delicately tailored was the cherry on top of the dress. A strap was fastened around his shoulders, the silk lining underneath peeking out ever so slightly. That said, the Copernicus x Homme by Heaven glass bag is on her hands, taking the internet by storm. Everyone was immediately obsessed with matching the color of her dress – and soon it was everywhere. We love a walking queen.
A helping hand

2022 was the year of the girl. From Bella Hadid, and Dua Lipa, to Taylor Russell – we’ve been blessed with the most beautiful women whose lives we live with violent desires. One It Girl in particular, Julia Fox, has been swept up by the internet in one swift embrace – paving the way for unique and restless girls everywhere. The American drawl is instantly recognisable, and the crispness of her voice sings straight into our hearts. Her look at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party was one of countless looks this year, but we chose this one because Fox is top notch. A collaborative effort between artist Naomi Gillon and Danish brand Hahn Kjøbenhavn, the “Hold Dress” is an iconic brand. A full black leather number gives an otherwise simple dress a completely new dimension with a faux collar. Sensational, evocative and very good; She is our muse forever.
Miu Miu Mania

If we are talking about last year’s defining fashion trends, then it is unthinkable to leave out the Miu Miu micro mini dress collection. When the brand unveiled their ready-to-wear collection for Spring 2022, everyone was instantly hooked. It’s not hard to see why—the collection strikes a playful balance between corporate uniforms and skin-revealing. A particularly sought-after piece is the ultra-short skirt, which consists of two cut-out skirts – one for the purpose and the other as a bandeau. Seemingly cut with careless abandon, you can’t scroll past this collection without seeing it. Whether you’re sick or tired of it – there’s no denying it’s a hot commodity.
Here comes the bride.

This year also marked many milestones, during which some fashion icons tied the knot with their beaus. One of them is Chloe Sevigny – who is definitely one of the most famous of the It Girls. She first put herself on the map after her debut film in the 1995 cult classic Children, since then she has been serving fashion looks for all of us to admire. This year, Sevigny got married – in a custom Mugler, no less. Dubbed the “Super Flower Blood Moon Total Eclipse Catsuit” – it does exactly what it says on the tin. Lacy and white, Mugler’s signature detail ups the ante. With a matching bolero and flowers in her hair, Sevigny made for such a beautiful bride.
Married in style

On the topic of brides, there was another wedding that the internet was freaking out about. Stylist Rachael Rogers got married in Naples this summer and her entire wedding was like a dream. Going through three outfit changes, each look was just as gorgeous as the next. The bride’s look was, of course, all white – with a ruffled fringe, an archival Vivienne Westwood corset, capris and pink Loewe heels. Her veil looked like it was miles long, but the cherry on top were the two giant bows on either side of her head. But that’s not all – her cake-cutting look was a recreation of the YSL SS99 bridal collection worn by Laetitia Casta, and her party look was a stunning glittery Paco Rabanne number. Who does it like her?
Fish out of water

Next up is Emma Corrine, who is a proven look-turner. Whether you’re serving refined chic or high camp – we’re never here for it. One look that has people talking about it is this JW Anderson look taken straight from the designer’s Spring 2023 collection. The young actor is not one to shy away from either side, for which we are grateful. It makes sense, then, that Corry joins JW Anderson – their sets are filled with plenty of camp. With the help of longtime stylist Harry Lambert, the duo brought us this playful vision – which is, literally, a fish in a bag. All we have to say is kill!
Sensational in Shiaparelli

To bring our event to a fiery end, we end with Taylor Russell Burton. In 2022, she appeared in the London premiere of The Shining It Girls to evoke Schiaparelli’s Bones and All. Featuring a floor length skirt, pleated and secured with velvet bows on either side. A champagne-colored boned corset underneath, cinching the actress’ waist, added another dimension. Cropped jacket with pointed shoulders on top, complete with intricate embroidered vines. With a velvet choker and boater hat, this look is sculpted, boxy and refined. We’re not cannibals, but this look is undeniably delicious.
