The book covers the state from north to south (when it comes to Florida, there’s a saying: the more north you get, the more south you get) from the Panhandle to the Keys in 500 pages, with orange groves and alligator farms and underwater pizza delivery and St. Petersburg’s gay strip workers alike.
“Every time something comes out about Florida, I want to see what special spin is put on it. I think A24 does a great job in movies that are flashy and fun and colorful and deep plots that are more emotional. People can come because they’ve seen these crazy promotional materials for these movies and they’ve come out and There’s more to them. I wanted to do the same thing with the book,” Calisse said. “There’s a lot of humor and weirdness and depth and surprise, and every time I watch a movie about Florida A24, I wake up to the same thing. It’s such an amazing and strange place. What everyone shares is a greater fascination with Florida.
