Lubbock, Texas – Powered by a pair of assists from a preseason All-Big 12 selection Macy Blackburn.Texas Tech opened its 2022 campaign with a 2-0 win over Troy on Thursday at the John Walker Soccer Complex.
The Red Raider (1-0-0) defense held Troy (0-1-0) to a pair of shots on the night.
“It was a good first night,” the head coach Tom Stone he said. “We have 10 freshmen, which means one-third of our team was in their first college game. I feel like they were ready and played well enough to win. We weren’t very aggressive on third-and-18. But we played over 20 players. Their guard had a great night. So 2-0 was the correct score.
Blackburn picks up where she left off last season after leading the team in assists a year ago, contributing to both Red Raider attacks.
