TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) – The presence of fireworks in 2021 has been a big concern for citizens across the country, but this holiday weekend, it’s not an issue in the Arclatex region.

As the new year approaches, customers are preparing for a surprise weekend; New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest times of the year for the fireworks industry. Stateline Fireworks has stores throughout ArkLaTex. Owner Ken Carpenter says they are ready for a big season.

“We have more production this year than in the last three years. All our places are crowded, [and] “We are deeply integrated and selling them cheaply,” said Carpenter.

Also bringing in the New Year’s fireworks are Denver Reynolds and other members of the Texarkana Full Gospel Tent. They pick up items for the fireworks display at their church.

“Well, we’ve got about three minutes here, and I’m thinking a five-minute scene, so we’re trying to make it as cute as we can for them,” Reynolds said.

Although fireworks are fun to set off and beautiful to watch, safety is a concern for local law enforcement agencies. Les Moon, spokesman for the Texarkana, Arkansas Police Department, said residents should be aware of local laws governing the use of fireworks. Above all, it is important to show respect to their neighbors.

“Be careful of other people’s property. Be aware of the animals in the area, and get to know our veterans who are victims of PTSD. It’s a big threat for them this year. This year we ask people to be respectful to our officials, and hopefully we won’t have any problems,” Moon said.
