Tech job postings increased 45% between January and June and are up 52% compared to the same period in 2021, according to tech jobs website Dice, released by DI Group Inc. (NYSE: DHX ) under its “Tech Jobs Report” brand. The growth comes as big tech companies continue to slow and downsize.

Dice CEO Art Zeile said this posting growth reflects continued strength in the tech hiring market.

“The recent wave of hiring and hiring by technology-focused firms has not dampened the overall demand for technology professionals,” Zeile said. “Furthermore, we believe the current demand is at least two times greater than the supply of unemployed tech workers.”

Looking at June alone, there were 60% more job postings for technology professionals than June 2021. And compared to pre-pandemic numbers, those posted are up 53 percent since June 2019.

“The pandemic has led to a shift in consumer behavior, with a greater focus on remote access and flexibility,” Zeile said. “We’re seeing continued growth in tech posts for organizations that are now doubling down on digital transformation.”

Among the top 50 employers of tech talent in the first half of this year, 96 percent increased year-over-year. Leading players include Amazon, Apple and Google.

Meanwhile, employers with non-tech core business models — such as manufacturing, financial services, retail and hospitality — are hiring at increasing rates, Dice noted. Examples include Disney, Capital One, and Humana.

Tech professionals continue to prefer remote and hybrid work, and new tech hubs are attracting top talent in a list of cities and states, Dice said. As traditional hubs like New York City, Silicon Valley and Austin, Texas continue to grow, cities that have invested in their tech space are seeing unprecedented growth for tech roles in some time.

Popular technology centers include:

  • San Antonio, Texas saw an 80 percent increase in tech job postings in the first half of this year compared to the first half of 2021.
  • Miami in 2010 It grew 104% in 2022, compared to the first half of 2021
  • Minneapolis It grew by 48% in 2022, compared to the first half of 2021

The data in the Dice report is based on data collected on July 6 and provided by Lightcast (formerly Emcee Burning Mirror), which has a database of over 1 billion current and historical job postings worldwide.
