St Andrews student dubbed ‘fashion god’ after wearing bucket hat to university exams

Take it to Paris Fashion Week now

A St Andrews student has been dubbed a “fashion god” for wearing a bucket hat on the latest episode of the BBC University Challenge.

Alex Ksukai, an astrophysics and astronomy student at the University of St Andrews, paired his bright pink bucket with a ribbon and cloud print jumper to support Ukraine. Alas, Alex’s choice of trousers could not be seen as the contestants were only modeled from the waist up.

The episode, which aired last night and was the first of the new year, saw St Andrews compete for the second time. In the year Making his debut on the show in October 2022, which saw the Scottish Uni team compete against Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, Alex opted for a more subdued outfit, a green-toned jumper with a complimentary button-down shirt – no hat of any nature in the station.

The choice of head is worn around the divided audience at this time; While some hailed his choice of attire as a “fashion god”, others objected to their festive attire, saying: “Who told Mr Ksukai that a hat was a good idea?”

Unfortunately, St Andrews were knocked out of the competition by the likes of opposition team Royal Holloway, meaning we’re spoiled for choice as to what Alex will be wearing if he makes it through to the next round. One can only guess.
