Hello Woodlands Small Business of the Month is brought to you by Miguel Lopez of Konganas LLC and features local small businesses serving the Montgomery County community.

Read our interview with this month’s Small Business of the Month, DRIPBar Magnolia, and owner Amanda Hernandez below.

The interview

Tell us about DRIPBar Magnolia. What is your business history? Why did you decide to create/start the business?

I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit, perhaps from my father. I’ve looked into other businesses in the past, but nothing really appeals to me. I have to be passionate about what I’m doing.

I am a nurse by training and have spent my entire career in the medical field (nursing, diagnostics and now genetics). As I restarted my search to open a business, I was looking for something where I could use my nursing skills and support people who wanted to maintain and improve their health. I came across DRIPBar.

Question 2: Who, where and what do you serve? What products and/or services do you offer?

We serve all individuals – young and old – who want to supplement their current health system, who want to boost their immune system, who want to receive high doses of vitamin C, cancer patients, individuals with allergies or intestinal problems. We offer 20 specialty IV drips and have the ability to customize according to what our customers want. This is why not only being a business owner, but also a registered nurse is perfect for me.

Oh, and we’re starting to offer Hydrafacials as well as Botox and Fillers for those looking to “take care of the outside and the inside”!

We serve all of Montgomery County (Magnolia, The Woodlands, Conroe, Montgomery and surrounding areas). Customers can come to us at 5417 FM 1488 Suite C or we provide concierge/mobile service and come to you. Our valet service is great even for groups who can’t come to our venue, such as weddings, staff events, parties, etc.

What does he do? DRIPBar Special?

What is unique and what attracted me to DRIPBar is that unlike other IV vitamin services, we are USP 797 Compliant. That means we follow strict guidelines and protocols for compounding our IVs and all of our IVs are compounded on site under clean hoods. Nothing is pre-mixed or pre-packaged. Additionally, all of my nurses, Sweet Magnolias, are registered nurses with current transfusion experience.

What did you look for when you started and added to your team?

Having a cohesive team is very important. Believing in a holistic approach to health, everyone is pouring their piece into DRIPBar Magnolia. Sometimes you May You’ll need a prescription, but you can often find and maintain your health naturally – that’s what we help provide at DRIPBAR Magnolia. All nurses believe the same and it shows when dealing with clients.

Did something not go as planned? What would you do differently?

It was definitely a learning process for me when I started opening a business. I gave myself a rough timeline, so maybe I’ll ease myself up a bit more. I was a bit worried about the current state of the country and the supply chain issues, but it all worked out.

How has your business evolved since the beginning?

We’ve only been open for 4 weeks, so we all continue to learn something new every week. We’ve already had some quick wins, lots of memberships, lots of returning customers, it’s really exciting.

What would you say to a reader thinking of starting a business and/or buying a franchise? What do you want someone to tell you?

Figure out what your “why” is. Why do you want to open a business? Do your “due diligence” when researching potential businesses. Make a list, what are the “pros”, what are the “disadvantages”? Ask yourself, “Am I passionate about this? Can I see myself getting up and doing this every day? ” Sometimes it can’t just be about money, because you’re investing more than you initially got back, your time is a big investment.
