Small business, big dreams: Rae Dior Couture celebrates 3 years with ribbon cutting – L’Observataire

New Sarpy – Just three years after opening a children’s boutique to build a legacy for her infant daughter, Lexus “Lucky” Wells watched as she cut the ribbon on a warehouse building that would allow her young daughter to grow their small business.

Wells thinks Ra’Lynn Dior Jackson will cut more ribbon on big buildings going forward. Rae launched Dior Couture in 2010.

“On days when I wanted to give up on everything, he would pick me up, dust me off and encourage me to keep going. I prayed daily on my son’s business for a breakthrough. Sales were slow most days, but I’m always thankful for the one or two sales I get a week,” Wells said. “After I started seeing a little profit, I decided to invest my small savings from the business and use my personal savings to buy an office/residence.”

Not long after buying a shed to renovate the office, Wells in In the summer of 2022, she unexpectedly became pregnant with her second child. The world was just about to take off for her daughter’s business. Plans for the building and business expansion fell by the wayside. One day, sitting on the sofa, trapped in a dark place, the girl suddenly gave her a hug and an encouraging word, “I’m so proud, Mom.”

With these words in mind, Wells took another look at the shed. Again, she dug into her personal savings account and began looking for contractors to do electrical work, sheet metal, painting and flooring. With the work done, she took time to relax and enjoy the end of her pregnancy before welcoming son Roman Jackson in February.

Wells had her 3-year-old daughter and 3-month-old son by her side as the business’s third anniversary was celebrated Tuesday evening at the Ribbon. What started as a storage shed has been transformed into an office/storage space with pink walls and girls adorning the modern clothes of Re Dior Couture.

“I believe this new building will bring more awareness to my son’s business name and help my son’s business grow in a positive direction. Even though my building is not an actual storefront, there are still clothes displayed on the shelves to give that visual focus to local customers who come in to order online,” Wells said. “To be honest, 75% of my orders are out of government orders, so having an office space to display merchandise can attract more customers locally, which will be a big help for Rae Dior Couture.”

Wells understands that breakthroughs don’t come easily and that there is more work to be done. She sees the new building as a reflection of her daughter, and that motivates her to keep pushing every day.

“I look at it this way; if I give up, I’m denying my daughter an opportunity that could change her life… Giving up is never an option. Rae Dior Couture will be big one day, and I stand by that,” she said.

They are available Monday through Friday from 6 pm to 8 pm.
