The Ruthe B. Cowl Recovery Center Board of Directors and Joe Brand announced a press release on Thursday for a fundraising event for a cause at the luxury clothing store.

The fashion show will be held on November 10 at the Laredo Country Club.

Russell Serda, who recently took over as president of RBC’s board of directors, announced the event and asked for the community’s generosity.

We are gathered here today to announce a fundraising event hosted by Joe Brand and the Deutsch family. We are here to ask for the support of the entire community for this event.

In addition to the fashion show, Serda said there will be raffles, live auctions and more.

Serda also spoke about the increasing demand for the Ruthe B. Cowl Rehabilitation Center, with more people requesting its services.

“We need to scale up our services to the right number of people who start with Covid and continue with their illness or covid-related complications and therefore provide services to more and more people. From Laredo,” he said.

Sarda also added to the position of the board of directors in order to raise more money and expand their efforts due to this new situation.

“We are a young board,” he said. “I recently became board president, and we’ve added some new board positions to expand our efforts.

“We want to be able to make more of an impact with our fundraising capabilities. The more people help us, the more likely we are to provide more services to the community through our rehabilitation center.”

Serda thanked Joe Brand and the community for their support.

“We also want to sincerely thank Joe Brand and the Deutsch family and their efforts to help us, as well as the support of others in the community,” he said.

At Ruthe B. Cowl Executive Director Jacqueline Rodriguez asked for the community’s support.

“Now, more than ever, Ruthe B. Cowl needs the community’s help. We always help patients who need rehabilitation, as you know, no one is exempt from seeking the help of our center, she said. “More than help and support for our center, it is an investment in the future of our families.”

She said they have seen an increase in people needing rehabilitation services due to Covid.

“Now, in addition to our regular patients, we see patients who have been infected and have sequelae, people with disabilities, sometimes learning to walk again, how to talk or how to eat. It is a great life changer and we try to help them regain their lost skills and reach their highest goal.

She also thanked Joe Brand for their efforts to help Ruth B. Cole with this fundraising event.

“The Joe Brand family has done a lot of fundraising. This is a particularly big event. It’s like a fashion show in New York City or Paris with professional models and great designers,” she said.

She added that the last time they did a “runway for a cause,” they raised $200,000.

“Thank you to Joe Brand and the Deutsch family for their support and our community,” said Rodriguez. “I invite you to attend this wonderful event.”

Lisa Deutsch Hinojosa and Terry Deutsch, owners of Joe’s Brand Inc., have supported Ruth B. Kaul since 1960.

Talk about fashion trends at this event.

“We try to choose the most fashionable clothes and we try to offer new fashion designers from the city and around the world,” said Terry. “This year we will have a Colombian designer, a French designer and a Canadian designer for men. We invite those designers to come and attend the event.
