Las Vegas, NV – US Senator Jackie Rosen visited the Neon Museum in Las Vegas with Executive Director Aaron Berger to discuss how his bipartisan travel and tourism legislation will strengthen America’s travel and tourism industry and help bring more visitors to places like Las Vegas. The bill signed into law last week appoints a new Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Travel and Tourism to oversee strategy across the federal government. Currently, there is no high-level position in the federal government that is solely focused on coordinating the federal travel and tourism strategy.
“A Las Vegas landmark like the Neon Museum depends on a strong and vibrant travel and tourism industry that brings visitors to our state. That’s why I worked to pass my bipartisan legislation to strengthen this vital economic sector.” Senator Rosen said. “By creating the first federal position to coordinate a national travel and tourism strategy, it will help communities in Nevada continue to grow, grow their economies and create new jobs.”

Senator Rosen’s bipartisan legislation was endorsed by more than a dozen leading Nevada-based and national groups, including the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the Nevada Resort Association, the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, the American Travel Association, Hotel America. and the Lodging Association, the American Gaming Association, the World Business Travel Association and the American Association of Travel Consultants.
Senator Rosen has been a leader in the fight to restore the travel and tourism industry to its full potential. Tourism is one of Nevada’s key industries and employs nearly 350,000 Nevadans. Rosen was part of the bipartisan team that negotiated the bipartisan infrastructure legislation, specifically helping to write the portion of the bill that included more than $58 million in funding for Nevada airports. It also includes legislation that would require the Department of Transportation (DOT) and other agencies to use infrastructure investments to revitalize the travel and tourism industries to update the National Travel and Tourism Infrastructure Strategic Plan.
