The Israeli Privacy Authority has taken over several servers that host multiple travel booking sites because their operator failed to address security concerns that affected more than 300,000 individuals.
At least 10 websites run by Gol Tour Tour LTD in Israel have been shut down, allowing hackers to steal customers’ personal information and credit card information due to security breaches.
The behavior of the Iranian group
On Thursday, the Israeli privacy watchdog confirmed the cyber attack, which is believed to be a threat to Iran, The Times of Israel reported.
According to the publication, the agency contacted Goal Tour immediately after the abduction and demanded that the hackers solve the security vulnerabilities.
“In any case, if he fails to report a serious breach of trust immediately and fails to cooperate in accordance with the directive, he will take decisive action to protect the public’s personal information, including the effective termination of the company’s operations,” said the Israeli Privacy Authority.
According to Ram Levy, CEO of Confidas Cyber and Crisis Management Company, the hackers are an Iranian group called Sharp Boyce.
This is the first time that the Privacy Authority has arrested the employees of a company that has been the victim of a cyber attack. Levy said the websites had been shut down and that the agency was investigating.
The owner of Goal Tour has hacked only the names and phone numbers of the websites and said the agency’s refusal to improve security was wrong.

On their website, Sharp Boyce described itself as an “independent hacker group.” The abduction was announced on June 11, with names, phone numbers, email addresses, credit card data, passport numbers and customer travel records being stolen.

Over the next few days, Sharp Boyce announced the hacking, releasing 300,000 customer data.
