For a long time, I didn’t see the point of incorporating a serum into my skin care routine as I thought sunscreen, cleanser and moisturizer were enough to take care of my skin. After trying MARY & MAY’s serums a few months ago, it became clear to me that the highly concentrated ingredients in serums greatly benefit skin. A good skin care routine isn’t just about using basic skin care products consistently but getting the most of your routine.

I’m a true believer in simple and gentle formulas for skin, and Korean skin care brand ONE THING offers just that with products containing only necessary ingredients from naturally derived sources. The brand’s collection recently expanded with some newly launched serums, including the Green Tea Serum, Tangerine Serum, Houttuynia Cordata Serum and Centella Asiatica Serum. All these newcomers are infused with eight kinds of hyaluronic acid to moisturize skin. Each serum contains a unique blend of powerhouse active and anti-aging ingredients to target a range of skin concerns in one go.

Keep scrolling to find out how these serums fared on my skin after a two-week trial, and why they’ve become essentials to my daily skin care regimen.

What it is: Enriched with antioxidant-rich green tea extract and rice ferment filtrate, this serum helps boost skin elasticity and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

My take: I’ve tried a lot of green tea products before so I know this ingredient rarely disappoints in skin care. The Green Tea Serum is the most lightweight out of the serums from ONE THING, and it felt very refreshing on skin, offering instant hydration upon application. The formula absorbed rapidly into my skin and left it feeling very smooth. Although the anti-aging benefits weren’t visible yet during this two-week trial, the Green Tea Serum made my skin healthier thanks to its soothing and antioxidant effects.

What it is: This multifunctional serum delivers soothing, moisturizing, toning and brightening effects with the help of tangerine extract.

My take: Although the Tangerine Serum has a slightly tacky consistency, I still love how the viscous texture feels on my skin. Designed to soothe, brighten and moisturize skin, this serum took quite some time to absorb, but once it did, my skin looked less dull. I also noticed that when I woke up the next morning, my skin felt softer and smoother.

What it is: This serum is formulated with a potent blend of ingredients. Houttuynia cordata powder soothes skin while propanediol, amino acids and fatty acids rid skin of impurities and retain skin moisture.

My take: A serum that offers a one-two punch of hydration and skin purification is all I want in a formula. The Houttuynia Cordata Serum helped plump up and add moisture to my skin as some of my dry and flaky patches on my face gradually subsided. After consistent use of this product over the two-week trial, my skin looked fresh, dewy and much healthier.

What it is: This moisturizing serum contains madecassoside and madecassic acid to soothe and calm irritated skin. The formula is infused with asiatocide and asiatic acid to strengthen the skin barrier and revitalize skin.

My take: Similar to the other serums, the Centella Asiatica Serum is gentle and calming on skin. It glides on like oil, and then slowly dries into a smooth gel-like texture. Not only did this serum offer intense moisture, but its key ingredient centella asiatica extract also helped strengthen my skin barrier, leaving my skin with a rejuvenated look and feel. Additionally, it helped keep my breakouts at bay, especially during my menstrual cycle.

Final verdict

I didn’t notice a significant difference between the four serums from ONE THING, especially in terms of texture. They all earn my seal of approval as the scentless formulas boosted my skin health without causing a breakout. The lightweight texture of the serums made them perfect for layering with other skin care products, including heavier night creams and leave-on sheet masks.

During the two-week trial, my skin became slightly brighter and gained that extra glow. I noticed these skin improvements in just a short period of time, so I’m convinced that my skin will continue to benefit from these serums in the long run.

The ultra-chic packaging of these serums – black plastic container with minimal white labels – makes them perfect additions to my bedside table. It’s safe to say that ONE THING’s serums won’t be leaving my beauty routine anytime soon.
