Harrisburg, Pa., July 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — According to AARP research Pennsylvania Voters and small business owners support the creation of Keystone Saves, a retirement savings program for workers who don’t have access through their employers. Voters age 50-plus are more likely to vote for a gubernatorial candidate who supports the creation of Keystone Saves, according to an AARP poll. Additionally, four out of five small business owners surveyed by AARP agree. Pennsylvania Lawmakers should support Keystone Saves.
The study found that people were 15 times more likely to save when they could do it outside of a regular paycheck. However, approximately 44 percent of hard-working Pennsylvanians — nearly 2.1 million workers — have no way to save for retirement at work. To address this, AARP Pennsylvania is sponsoring House Bill 2156, which would create Keystone Saves. This program provides Pennsylvania Helping employees grow the savings they need to take control of their financial future with an easy way to save from their regular paychecks.

Together, the results of the survey are:
- A majority of voters over 50 across party lines support Keystone Saves — with nearly 79% of Democrats, 68% of independents and 56% of Republicans supporting it.
- 83% black Over 50 voters strongly support Keystone Saves.
- 79 percent of small business owners agree. Pennsylvania Lawmakers should support Keystone Saves.
- 73 percent of small business owners express some concern. Pennsylvania Residents may not have saved enough money for retirement and may be dependent on public assistance programs.
