Winner of last year’s Red Dot Design Concept Award, ‘Folding Kettle for Travel’ shows how a simple eureka moment can lead to a product so clever, you’ll wonder why no one thought of it before. The folding kettle comes with a flat-pack design that opens up rather cleverly, expanding the volume and creating a kettle large enough to stand vertically on any surface. “Due to its unique storage structure, the capacity of this travel-friendly folding kettle after flipping is approximately 1.2 liters,” said C60 design team leader Chu Wenbao. It has three main features: easy operation, easy storage and minimal aesthetics. Travel-friendly kitchen design borrows heavily from the travel iron. It’s compact when you want it to be, and functional when you open it up. It also has a detachable cord that lets you connect it to a power source to heat water wherever you are.

The foldable travel enclosure is made from a combination of flame-resistant plastic, 304 stainless steel and food-grade silicone (for the bottom). When folded, it takes up 1/3 the space of a standard kettle, is as slim as the Memobottle, and fits easily into most travel cases. When you want to heat some water, just plug in the kettle and turn it on using the button above the handle. The bottle automatically turns off when the water heats up, and the locking spout on the front lets you easily pour water to brew a nice cup of tea or coffee.
