The past two pandemic years have not been particularly focused on aviation or fashion events.

However, given how well the Philippines’ tourism and fashion industries are doing, and both are contributing to the country’s economic recovery, these interests have been rekindled.

Asia Pacific Fashion Week (APFW), which has been postponed for two years due to the pandemic, will finally be held in August 2022 in the US, where international travel between the Philippines and the US has made a remarkable recovery. Again at pre-epidemic levels.

In its first year, APFW is celebrating Filipino fashion designers. Eight young and talented Filipino designers from Europe, America and the Philippines are showcasing their work at APFW, which will kick off on August 6, 2022 at the prestigious Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Upcoming fashion designers.

Los Angeles, to which PAL flies twice daily from Manila, will serve as the “debut” city for APFW in 2022 due to its growing importance in the global fashion industry.

Many fashion experts agree that Los Angeles is the place to be, with many famous designers themselves based there. After London, Milan, Paris and NYC, LA is now considered the “fifth capital of fashion”.

Following its LA debut, APFW will host a second fashion show on the weekend of August 13 at the Decades Event Center in Las Vegas. Then, on August 20, 2022, APFW will travel to New Jersey, where it will be one of the special subsidiary shows of “Fiesta in America 2022,” one of the largest and longest-running Philippine annual celebrations on the US East Coast.

As a travel ambassador for Philippine style, Philippine Airlines has honored the creativity of local clothing designers since its inception – with the advocacy of APFW. In fact, there was a time when PAL had its flight attendants wear uniforms in a touch of Filipino culture to assert the Filipino national identity.

“Giving a place to Filipino fashion talent in a global environment is a timeless idea. And the timing of our partnership with Philippine Airlines is perfect,” said Roger Oriel, CEO of Asia Journal Multimedia Group and founder of APFW.

Filipino designers represented at APFW will be flown in from various locations: Lionel Christian Lanuzzo (from Milan), Jill and Jug Couture by Jugger Onate and Jill Lasaka (from London and Dallas), Alma Tomenio (from Las Vegas) and RACS Fashion Accessories by Raxo and Wenelli Jugarup (from Brussels and from Los Angeles).

Philippines-based designers who will be showing their work at APFW are Toshimi Pakumbala, Angelo Dominic, Gian Lalala and Dave Ocampo. For tickets and enquiries: Asiapacificfw@gmail.com
