Choosing the right repair shop for car owners is like finding a good doctor. Customers want good service at an affordable price.
Martin Reihan Suryohusodo has been a fan of the automotive since his high school years when he upgraded his 2010 Honda Jazz to another car. With this love, he learned the importance of finding a good automotive technician.
“I visited many workshops for improvements. But I hated going there because I was so upset. ” CASIA. He once paid IDR 1 million ($ 71) for a car, but in a separate workshop he got the same piece for half the price.
Talking to fellow automotive enthusiasts, Sergio Husdo realized that they all had the same problem. He began thinking of creating an automotive post-marketing service platform to address price transparency and other issues in the automotive post-marketing industry.
A.D. In 2019, he discussed the idea with his friend Joseph Alexander Anato. He worked as a manufacturing engineer in the US. Sergio Hesodo met with Benny Sutejo, an industrialist who had spent almost 15 years in the Indonesian automotive industry. The three men combined their knowledge and decided to start OtoxLex in August 2019.
The startup, headquartered in Jakarta, runs a platform that allows car owners to provide maintenance and repair services at an affordable price through recommended workshops. Otoklix also instantly notifies users about their car repair process in the app, and guarantees all repairs.
The company operates a network of about 100 car repair shops in Jakarta and other satellite cities such as Tangerng, Bekasi, Bogor and Depock.

Suriohusodo narrowed down the problems in the post-marketing service to what he called information incompatibility. “There is no education to help customers understand the problem with their car,” he said. Car owners will be targeted by malicious repair shop workers who charge exorbitant prices or require unnecessary repairs, he added.
According to Suriohusodo, 80% of independent car repair shops are in Indonesia after-service market because they are usually cheaper than approved workshops. However, car owners are wary of going there because of the lack of transparency in pricing, something the company is trying to change by ensuring quality repair services at regular prices.
The Otoklix app displays a service charge before registration and users can pay within the app or on-site.

The company has previously offered a marketplace for this purpose, but store owners are less aware of the application, so Suriohusodo has decided to switch to WhatsApp to control direct contact with partner stores.
Otoklix charges an unspecified commission to each maintenance and repair order workshop owner, and generates revenue from the auto-purchase service.
A large market with few competitors
Indonesia is home to more than 16 million cars, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The Global Market Awareness Report predicts that the automotive post-marketing sector will reach $ 15 billion by 2025. Although there is a large market, Otoxlix does not have strong competitors in the sector.
Gojeuto has already entered the market with the car repair service GoAuto. However, Dikacor shut down services that were deemed to be “no longer useful” by streamlining the business. Other automotive brands, such as Toyota, Honda, and Suzuki, offer some apps for post-marketing services but are affiliated with them. Approved workshops.
“From April to October 202o, it increased its revenue by 13 times and 40 times its customer base,” said Serususodo. Otoklix has been selected as a participant in the Segeya India Fast Surge program and has raised $ 2 million in seed funding from GK-Plug, Play Indonesia, Kopi Kenangan’s Kenangan Investment Fund 1 and other angel investors.
Seriohusodo In December 2021, it announced plans to serve more than 100,000 cars each month, possibly after the number of partner repair shops increased from the current 100 workshops to 500.
“We started small with passenger cars but we will not close the possibility of expansion to other neighboring sectors in the near future and as heavy-duty or industrial vehicles,” said Suryohusodo.
