BLACKSBURG – Preparing to host region rival No. 11 Virginia Tech (5-2, 0-0 ACC), the baseball team continues its strong start to the season on Tuesday, Feb. 28 when Tech takes on Radford (2-5, 0-0 Big South) at 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday’s game between the Hawkeyes and Highlanders will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra. Fans can listen to the game on the Virginia Tech Sports Network with the voice of Tech baseball’s Evan Hughes.

  • Beginner right hander Nick Finarelli Tuesday is his first collegiate start for Virginia Tech and is expected to pop.
  • Finarelli was a four-year varsity baseball letterwinner at Lake-Lehman High School (Lehman, Pennsylvania), leading the Cavaliers to four district titles, conference titles and state tournament berths. He served as team captain during his senior 2022 season.
  • In his last four high school starts at Lake-Lehman, Finarelli recorded four complete game shutouts.
  • The 6-foot-4 native of Hanlock Creek, Pennsylvania, was widely recruited, choosing Virginia Tech over three ACC programs — Miami, Pitt and Wake Forest — in addition to Penn State, South Florida and West Virginia.
