Services offered by Xpress Print and Ship aren’t new to Steamboat Springs, but owners Kylie and Brian Fleming hope to fill the void left after PostNet closes its doors this summer.

“We’re going to try to do whatever you suggest just to create the service,” says Kylie. “There are a lot of people who have relied on those services for a long time, and we don’t want to disrupt that.”

Owned by Kathy and Terry Stokes, PostNet has been serving businesses and individuals in Steamboat since 1997 at a location in the Mid Valley Business Center. Kylie Stokes said they had been talking about retiring for the past several years, and she wasn’t surprised when PostNet closed a few weeks ago.

Kaylee and Brian, Steamboat Specialists and owners of the Steamboat Hat Shop, said their business was directly affected by the closure. The Flemings purchased Steamboat Specialties in 2020 and teamed up with PostNet to meet their customers’ needs at Steamboat Specialties – which offers a variety of custom promotional, award, gift and business products from name tags and apparel to awards. Tablets and one-of-a-kind gifts.

“The truth is we needed it,” Brian said. They’ve done all of our printing for our clients, so what do we do if that goes away?

So, instead of going out of town to find the services they needed, the Flemings decided to expand their business offerings in Steamboat by adding Express Print and Shipping. at 405 Anglers Drive in Sundance at Fish Creek.

The new location is about 3,500 square feet and just a few doors down from Steamboat Specialties. One of the areas has been renovated to include a self-service area and delivery counter, as well as business screen printing and embroidery.

Another site, a former doctor’s office, is underway and will include additional manufacturing space and, once completed, mailboxes with 24-hour service.

“My goal is to be done by September 1,” Brian said. “I think that’s a realistic goal. We will at least be in the pediatric office and work 100% – whether the boxes will be 24 hours or not, I can’t say, but that is my goal.

Xpress offers copy services, printing services including large sizes of flyers, banners, signs, stickers and posters. It also caters to all corporate needs for business meetings and cruise needs, including luggage, taxidermy or large paintings.

The store will be open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and once the improvements are made, customers will have 24-hour access to mailboxes and deliveries. The office can also be reached by email at info@steamboatxpress.com.

“We’re trying to make things as seamless as possible, so people don’t have to rush to find somewhere else to go,” says Kylie. “We’ve heard interest from people who need their building plans or whatever, and we want to provide the services they need to keep their business from going out of business.”
