A business-to-business (B2B) ecommerce startup based in Morocco
It has raised $1 million from Orange Ventures.With this, Orange Ventures Middle East and Africa partner Grégoire de Paderac will join the company’s supervisory board.
Ismail Belkhayat, Co-Founder and CEO of Chari, said that Orange Group’s distribution knowledge and skills will help them expand into the countries where Orange operates.
In the year Founded in January 2020 by Ismail Belkhayat and Sofia Alje, Chari is an embedded finance startup in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector that aims to transform the supply chain used by small businesses. With the help of a mobile app, customers can order all the products they need at their point of sale with a few clicks in less than 24 hours.
In January 2022, Saudi-based Khwarizmi Ventures invested $100 million in a Chari Bridge round. This is the first and only investment by Khwarizmi in Morocco so far.
The app has attracted more than 20,000 food businesses in Morocco’s main cities.
In the year In 2021, Chari won the Middle East Africa Race organized by Orange Ventures. The competition featured over 500 technical entrepreneurs from Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Cameroon, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Jordan.
