Missouri’s McDonald’s, the dairy queen, has begun to wage war among local businesses.

There’s some beef between McDonald’s and Dairy Queen in Marshfield, Missouri, and it’s not just in burgers.

Local fast food joints have been trading barbs with the help of the restaurant’s giant signs.

It all started when a McDonald’s location used the sign to say, “Hey DQ! Are you going to have a sign war?”

The dairy queen responded, “But we 2 busy makin ice cream.”

McDonald clapped back, “That’s beautiful, our ice cream makes itself.”

Dick took a jab at McDonald’s ice cream machines, which are notorious for often breaking, saying, “It actually works, shocking.”

In turn, McDonald’s followed up with, “Wow, as salty as the world famous fries.”

DQ delivers another zinger taking aim at the McDonald’s mascot:

The store also went after the beef from McDonald’s:

But McDonald’s and Dairy Queen’s Marshfield businesses aren’t the only ones joking around with each other.

The Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce is documenting the back-and-forth on a Facebook post, adding photos daily of new entries by various local businesses in the Sign Wars.

An area Wendy’s recently joined in the fun, taking a dig at McDonald’s with a message: “Fresh and crispy fries are not arch.”

Wendy’s, which famously advertises its beef as “fresh, never cold,” also revealed the recipe for the competition.

Other businesses — from a local Mexican restaurant, fruit stand, temp agency, Domino’s, Sonic and more — all gave their two cents.

“My milk shark brings all the cars to the yard,” wrote a sign at Sonic, where customers receive their meals at drive-thru entrances. The store also said, “We have ice for these burns!”

McDonald’s threw some shade back by calling out the model in Sonic Drive:

Mexican restaurant Las Cazuelas writes on a neon sign in the window, “Nacho mean sign ps ice cream we have boiled.”
