Millions for HV health care projects

New York state on Feb. 15 announced more than $658 million in state funding to support 127 projects designed to enhance the state’s health care delivery system. An additional $1.15 billion is expected to be awarded in the future. Funding is included for a number of health care entities in the Hudson Valley.

Administered by the State Department of Health and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program was established with a goal of helping to improve patient care by supporting high-quality facilities serving the inpatient, primary care, mental health, substance use disorder and long-term care needs of communities throughout the state.

Hudson Valley projects that are to receive funding were identified as the following:

• Best Healthcare Inc – Renovate and expand the facility to increase access to primary care services – Orange County – $2,258,032;
• Blythedale Children’s Hospital – Modernize obsolete kitchen at Blythedale Children’s Hospital – Westchester County –  $4,694,768;
• Burke Rehabilitation Hospital – Capital improvements to construct and provide new CT scanning services that will improve access to care – Westchester County –  $669,611;
• Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center – Acquire land to construct a 96-specialty bed residential health care facility to serve children aged 21 years and older aging out of pediatric residential health care facilities in White Plains – Westchester County –  $9,025,213;
• Green Hills Estate Home for Adults – Capital improvements to modernize the facility and enhance resident safety and welfare – Rockland County – $1,204,945;
• Jawonio Inc – Purchase a building in Nanuet to relocate behavioral health services to a more accessible location to increase access to PROS program services – Rockland County –  $2,200,000;
• Julia Dyckman Andrus Memorial, Inc. – Modernize and expand the ANDRUS Yonkers Health and Wellness Center that will serve to better integrate physical health and mental health services to meet the complex needs of children and families – Westchester County – $1,699,698;
• MONTEFIORE NYACK FOUNDATION INC – Renovate and modernize Extended Care Unit that includes an inpatient recovery unit and labor and delivery unit to create an improved patient care environment – Rockland County –  $4,176,317;
•  NCRNC, LLC (d/b/a Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury) – Capital improvements to improve patient safety and quality of care by adding wall protections for TBI patients and purchase of equipment for use with the RHCF’s ventilator-dependent patients – Ulster County – $183,066;
• NYSARC, Inc. Ulster, Greene, Putnam Counties Chapter – Capital improvement to construct a direct clinic entrance, purchase new medical equipment to support patients with higher needs, and integrate health care services – Ulster County – $295,822 ;
• PROMENADE MIDDLETOWN LLC – Construct, renovate and furnish a Special Needs Assisted Living Residence (SNALR) unit with a Day Program designed to accommodate the needs of the residents of the facility and nonresident individuals from the community – Orange County – $2,525,000;
• Premier Health Care Inc. Construct an Article 28 Clinic for persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities and neurotypical people in need of care – Westchester County –  $2,805,750;
• St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers – Renovate and upgrade surgical service including post anesthesia care unit, as well as maternity suite – Westchester County –  $34,062,125;
• St. Joseph’s Hospital, Yonkers – Capital improvements to expand behavioral health services and enhance access to specialty care linked to primary care at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center, support renovations at St. Vincent’s behavioral health center, and purchase technology to link multiple sites and EMRs together to provide integrated care across the organization – Westchester County – $6,680,287.
• The Guidance Center of Westchester – Renovate facility to include carve-out space for a primary care partner, waiting area, as well as other renovations to building – Westchester County –  $1,080,439
• United Hebrew Geriatric Center – Restructure debt to better position the organization to transform and sustain operations – Westchester County – $8,299,648
• White Plains Hospital Medical Center – Renovate existing extension clinic to create a family dental clinic that will primarily serve low-income, underserved, minority and Medicaid populations – Westchester County – $1,763,155.
