Omaha, Neb. – Creighton won’t have to wait long to take its first trip to the Maui Jim Maui Invitational, as the Bluejays will meet fellow first-time participant Texas Tech on Nov. 21 in the first game of the 2022 tournament.
The Bluejays and Red Raiders will be on ESPN2 with a game at 1:30 pm Central (9:30 am Hawaiian). CU is 3-1 all-time against Texas Tech, including the 2019 overtime win in Las Vegas. TTU went 27-10 last season.
The full bracket was announced Monday as the tournament prepares to return to the Lahaina Civic Center this November 21-23. Louisville will face Arkansas in the other half of the bracket as Texas Tech takes on Creighton in Monday’s games. In the bottom half of the bracket, Ohio State meets San Diego State, and Cincinnati faces Arizona. All 12 games of the Maui Jim Maui Invitational will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU and also available on the ESPN app.
Completing the Maui Jim Maui Invitational bracket shows fans and teams everywhere that the college basketball season is upon us, but this year feels even more exciting, tournament chairman David Odom said. “While we’ve been able to keep the magic of Maui on the mainland for the past two years, it’s never felt so good to return to our rightful home on the island – and we’re bringing an amazing field of teams to help us celebrate. It’s a homecoming!”
The Maui Jim Maui Invitational has become synonymous with smash finishes and epic upsets, setting the tone for these top programs and the season as a whole. Teams that have participated in the event’s history own 70 of the 82 NCAA championships. Seven schools went on to win the national championship after competing early in the Maui season.
Six of this year’s eight participants made the 2021-22 NCAA Tournament, with Texas Tech and Arizona advancing to the Sweet 16 and Arkansas to the Elite Eight. Arizona and Cincinnati are two of the top 12 all-time winningest schools in NCAA history, while Louisville (39), Arkansas (34), Ohio State (31) and Creighton (23) are in the top 50 nationally for most NCAA wins. This year, the home field includes 6 teams and will play a return game in Maui, where Creighton and Texas Tech will play for the first time in history. Arizona is the only returning program to win Maui Jim Maui Invitational championship titles in 2000 and 2014.

Notes: Louisville will make its fourth appearance at the Maui Gym Maui Invitational, following the 1989, 2000 and 2004 tournaments. The Cardinals are ranked in the top 10 nationally with 61 wins. It will be Arkansas’ fourth appearance in the tournament, following the 1991, 2005, and 2013 contests. The Hogs have earned 33 NCAA Tournament appearances, advanced to the Elite Eight in back-to-back years, and won the 1994 NCAA Championship title.

Notes: San Diego State will be making its fifth appearance at the Maui Gym Maui Invitational after participating in the 1989, 2003, 2014 and 2018 tournaments. Ohio State is returning to the tournament for the fourth time, its first since 2003. The Buckeyes also participated in the 1993 and 1988 tournaments.

Notes: The 2022 tournament will be the Wildcats’ eighth trip to Maui after appearances in 1993, 1997, 2000, 2005, 2009, 2014 and 2018. Arizona holds a 14-8 record in the tournament, including championship titles in 2014 and 2014. It was previously shown in 2009 and is making its second appearance.
