Ruston, La. – Louisiana Tech head coach Lan Burrows and his coaching staff have announced two transfers who will join the Bulldogs through the 2023 season.

The first addition to the 2023 roster is Rawley Hector, who will transfer after one season at Texas A&M. Hector, a native of Van Alstyn, Texas, is a right-handed pitcher who posted a 1-0 record in a midweek win over No. 8 Texas.

“When I came on my visit, I loved the coaching staff, the school and everyone I met in Ruston,” Hector said. “I know they have a winning program, and I’m excited to be a part of it. I can’t wait to play in front of the Bulldog Nation with the Love Sheik.

During his true freshman season, he appeared in nine games, posting a 7-2 strikeout-to-walk rate in 14.2 innings. Hector pitched five innings in the 2019 18U USA Nationals, allowing two earned runs on three hits and striking out 3.

Brody Drost is the second addition to LA Tech’s 2023 roster and comes to Ruston after spending two seasons at LSU. Drost, a graduate of Barbe High School and the 2020 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year, played in 37 games and started 20 during his freshman season in 2021.

“My decision to become a Bulldog was a no-brainer from the beginning,” Drost said. “The coaches went out of their way to make me feel important and a priority. I talked to players who went here and some who are still here and they all said they wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. It was a big bonus to be able to stay in Louisiana and play for great fans in Ruston.”

The Lake Charles native hit .226 with five homers, three doubles, 14 RBI and 14 runs in 2021 for the Tigers starting in three outfield positions. Drost was named the No. 100 player in the nation by all-time and was named MVP of the 2019 Class 5A State Tournament while at Barbe High School.
