Local golf fashion brand Byrdy talks about what to wear to the Presidents Cup

With one-pieces, classic flared skirts and delicate floral patterns, Byrdy’s head-to-toe golf gear is designed to take customers from the course to cocktail hour.

Why is it important? Byrdy is a local brand that sets new fashion standards in the world of golf and sets trends. It has attracted the attention of major fashion houses such as Vogue and Elle.

  • As thousands of golf fans flock to Charlotte this week for the Presidents Cup ((September 20-25) at the Quail Hollow Club, where you can find revelers in Byrdie attire.

Flash Charlotte’s Rachel Williams and Hayden Shoffner have started during the Yerdy season. “We played golf every day because it was the only thing we had to do during Covid,” Shoffner told Axios.

  • They grew up on golf courses, but after spending more time on them in recent years, they’ve noticed a lack of functionality in golf apparel.
  • Birdie’s clothes were designed for women to “play 18 holes … and pack a kitten heel and throw it out for dinner,” Shoffner said.

  • “We both had wonderful grandmothers,” Shoffner said. “My grandmother always had red lipstick and big gold belts on the golf course.”

What to expect: Modern takes on vintage designs like puffy sleeves, floral patterns, Peter Pan collars and fun hats. Williams and Shoffner are deliberately moving away from long navy skirts and plain collar shirts that lean on the sporty side of fashion.

  • Among their best-selling items are the Hayden dress and the Caddy suit. Their fall line is inspired by the Presidents Cup and viewers can expect to see them sporting the Byrdy Club Cord Cap.
  • Prices range from $12-$295 for socks, hats, polos, dresses, skirts and other accessories and apparel.

  • You can now find Byrdy apparel at the Charlotte Country Club Pro Shop. Come spring 2023, you’ll find Byrdin in pro shops across the country.
