Leah announces the 25th Annual Women’s Economic Opportunity Conference.

Vermont Business Magazine US Senator Patrick Leahy is pleased to announce the 25 workshops and presenters.^Th Annual Women’s Economic Opportunity Conference (WEOC) Saturday, October 1 on the campus of Vermont Technical College in Randolph.

“Each year, the WEOC Organizing Committee does an exemplary job of bringing together professionals who are willing to share their knowledge and expertise with Vermonters at no cost. It’s an opportunity for attendees to improve their skills, learn about alternative careers, or gather information about starting or growing their careers. Every year, we hear from inspired attendees. All free morning workshops cover the following topics.

· Balancing investment costs and benefits in reduced energy use;

· Making the most of food and trade shows;

· Skills in advanced manufacturing;

· Develop a professional development mindset;

· managing your finances;

· Ability to listen to BIPOC business owners;

· Working as a freelancer;

· Being a certified female business;

· Negotiating wages and salaries;

· knowing your rights in relation to wage discrimination;

· starting a business;

· Listening skills for women business owners;

· Building interpersonal skills through fun humor.

The afternoon will feature presentations on safety in the workplace and outside the workplace, and a panel on mentoring and leadership.

Prior to the workshop, in the conference’s opening keynote, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will talk about the current state of women’s workplaces and what we can expect in the future. Secretary Yellen is the first woman to head the Treasury Department. She was the first woman to head the Federal Reserve.
