It’s not a traditional cauldron, but New Jersey promises a free beer to those who go out to make a shot.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday that residents over the age of 21 for drinking will receive the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in May and take the vaccination card to a participating brewery will receive a free beer.

Murphy highlighted 13 participating breweries across the state in a Twitter post.
The announcement reflects a scheme that should be carried out in Connecticut, which is part of the three-state zone alongside New York and New Jersey. Gov. Ned Lamont said late last month that as of May 19, fully vaccinated Connecticuters will be able to opt for a free drink at participating restaurants (food will need to be purchased).
New Jersey has joined a growing list of states, cities, and companies that offer or consider incentives to try to slow the pace of vaccinations and push the population toward herd immunity.
West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice recently suggested a program that would have offered a $ 100 savings bond to any 16- to 35-year-old state resident who received the Covid-19 vaccine. However, state officials admitted Monday that they have had difficulty trying to set up the scheme and that it may not continue as planned.
Detroit offers $ 50 prepaid debit cards to anyone previously registered that forces another resident to receive their punch at selected vaccination sites.
Some companies have also decided to offer incentives to both customers and their own employees. Krispy Kreme has offered a free donut a day for the rest of 2021 to anyone who has evidence of their vaccination against Covid-19.
Among those who have offered free time, extra money, or in-store credit to workers who receive their vaccine doses are employers like McDonald’s, Target, AT&T, and Kroger.
