Kelsea Ballerini is using fashion to pay tribute to her hero and collaborator Shania Twain. The country music star rocked Tuan’s authentic 1999 Grammys dress on the 15th.Th annual Academy of Country Music honors Wednesday night at Ryman Hall in Nashville, Tennessee.

Before hitting the carpet, Ballerini posted a story on Instagram showing a glimpse of the archival dress sitting in the museum and captioned it, “Sisterhood of the traveling dress…guess where Shaniatwain’s #GRAMMYs dress will disappear next. The institute wrote on Instagram Stories, “We are so honored to help make this moment happen.
Ballerini later shared photos in the dress — posing with Twain — writing, “IIf your hero is Shania Twan, meet your hero. You can be friends and she can let you wear the dress. 🤍 (ps @grammymuseum thanks for letting me borrow it for 24 hours!!! pss tune in to see the whole acm honors sept 13)”
Twain was honored Wednesday evening with the ACM’s “Poetry Award.” Entertainment tonightShe was “excited” to see the ballerina in her gown.
“She looks amazing. She looks like an absolute angel. It’s fun to see her in her dress, and she even wanted to dress up. I said, ‘I hope it’s not too dusty after I get inside.’ [Grammy Museum]” said Twain. “It was an incredible night for me at the Grammys. That dress represents that experience, so I’m glad to see it alive again. Now he has a new life, and he has new memories, and it’s great to be able to share that with other people, with other women. But thankfully, Ballerini made it work! Since she was a bit taller than Twain, she simply decided to wear shorter heels.
It was another Twan twin time that came later in the night. During Ballerini’s performance, she flashed Twain on stage from the 1999 Grammy Awards. Just as Twain had done 23 years earlier, the star rocked a black strapless corset dress with fishnet stockings and fringed opera gloves.
