It is the process of mentally awakening – or doing something – specifically to do something.
And so did Katrina Bowman-Thomas.
She followed a life-long dream; And in November 2021, she turned it into a business.
That’s when Inspeeded Fashion first started.
“I’ve always loved fashion,” says the Madisonville native. “My mom always had clothes for me, and I loved trying them on.”

Now Bowman-Thomas is helping other women feel, well, special.
“I like to help them,” she told the Northern Kentucky Tribune, “but also help build their confidence.”
She opened her boutique at 827 Madison Avenue in Covington when the epidemic hit.
“I’ve had instant success on social media, we’ve had online orders from New York, California and Houston,” she said.
Now, she’s looking for more in-store traffic.
“We had a really good small business incentive from the city of Covington and that’s when I knew it was time for a brick and mortar store,” said the University of Kentucky graduate.
She takes individual styling appointments; And she says she emphasizes shape — not size — in women’s clothing.
“We try to understand their size – upright, hourglass, pear or apple,” she said. “Our goal is simple – to improve body type.”
And she wants to be an inspiration to women.
For Katrina Bowman-Thomas, that’s never a problem.
She has served as executive director for the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission for the past four years.
“I was hired from Lexington, where I did the same job,” she said.
NKCAC helps individuals and families in Northern Kentucky through financial, family and children’s services.
Balancing the two jobs doesn’t seem like much of a problem for the 49-year-old Bowman-Thomas.
“I have an employee here at the store, and our NKCAC offices are located at 717 Madison Ave.” she said.
With prices ranging from $25 to an average of $250, she says her clothing ranges from work, special event, bridal and prom dresses.
In fact, she’s planning a men’s laundry in the fall.
Her focus – on color.
“Most women’s wardrobes are only four colors, black, brown, blue and white.
As an African-American store owner, she says she’s pushing some white women “out of their comfort zone and into some fun colors.”
The inspired fashion boutique officially launched in June at Fashion Falls, downtown Cincinnati.
“Basically, we’ve enhanced our designs,” she says, “I don’t create my own pieces; We feature many local designers. Let this fall come even more.
Her vision boards highlight many of her special events, and Instagram and Facebook are big marketing tools, she says.
Katrina Bowman-Thomas wants to be an inspiration to all women.
“I want them to be confident and take on the world,” she said.
