The Japanese government on Wednesday eased travel warnings for 54 countries and regions, including Indonesia and the Philippines, over the coronavirus outbreak, and is not asking residents in Japan to make non-essential trips to those countries.
The Foreign Ministry said it had downgraded the travel advisory for those areas to Level 1 from the second-lowest Level 2 on a four-point scale, advising Japanese citizens traveling to those regions to be “extremely vigilant.”
Other new level 1 countries include 23 countries from the Middle East and Africa, 11 European countries including Ukraine and Russia, 11 European countries from the Middle East and Africa, 10 from Asia and the Pacific, such as Pakistan and Myanmar, and 10 from Latin America, according to the ministry.
In addition, the advisory for 41 other countries has been downgraded from Level 3, which is Level 2, which warns people to avoid all travel. Of these, 33 are located in the Middle East and Africa, four in the Caribbean, three in Eastern Europe and Kyrgyzstan.
The ministry said it still advises those planning to travel overseas to get fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
