Indianapolis, Inc. – Ivy Tech Community College recently received a grant of $ 4,736,976 through the US Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship Building America program.
The ERP will establish a state-of-the-art training center to promote practice as a practical, high school alternative to employment option and to expand the employer’s practice as a recruitment, training and retention strategy. The project supports the development and expansion of training programs in industries and professions in the critical supply chain for electric vehicle manufacturing and adoption, including public / home charging stations and line upgrades. It also supports transportation infrastructure improvements planned in the state, such as vertical and horizontal construction.
ERAP Project Individuals and women in Indiana are considered to be highly skilled, have a high school diploma, have little industrial experience enrolled in the GED program, are unskilled or unskilled, or under-represented.
Dr. Su Elsperman, President of Ivy Tech, said: “As Indiana’s manpower engine, we look forward to using the proven practice model in a variety of sectors to support many Indiana employers and improve Hosie’s prosperity.”
The Apprenticeship Building America Support Program is designed to expand and update registered trainings by increasing the number of programs and trainees, increasing the number of industries that use registered practices, and improving access and implementation of registered programs for non-representative communities.
