A fashionista spills her secret on how to look younger with simple wardrobe changes.
Jennifer Ebelhar, who goes by @thestyleequation on TikTok, says you should avoid wearing black as you get older.
“As we get older, some of our favorite wardrobe staples just don’t serve us as well as they used to,” she said in a recent video.
“In the 30s and 40s, everyone wore black. It’s easy, it’s cheap, and you can’t beat the versatility of a little black dress.
As Ebelhar once said, however, wearing too much black and blue can make you look older.
Similar to wearing colors that match your eyes, wearing blue and black will accentuate dark circles and wrinkles, especially if you’re not wearing makeup, he says.
“If the beautiful black hair of your youth has turned gray or even silver, your skin tone may have changed as well, and you won’t be able to wear those dark, dark colors for a while,” she says.
Instead, Ebelhar recommends framing your face in white or a pop of color to make it look more youthful and cheerful.
“It’s also a great way to incorporate the color of the season, showing you’re keeping up with the trends,” she said.
Try to incorporate bright colors and decorative tones when building your outfits.
Jewel tones “Emerald, ruby, sapphire, amethyst … are rich colors derived from jewel tones,” says Ebelhar.
“So call the black guy to look younger and follow me for more clothes swaps. That will take years off your appearance.
“Girl, you’re out here doing the Lord’s work. I didn’t know about black! ” one person responded in the comments.
Ebelhar admits that the idea is not just one size fits all.
“Sending this to my mom. She’s 84 years old and has only worn black for years!” one commented.
“These are recommendations, not rules,” Ebelhar said. If she’s rocking the black one, awesome!”
Ebelhar is a personal stylist specializing in women over 50, according to her website.
