Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening a drive-thru location in the Cherrydale area
Chipotle Mexican Grill opened a Cherrydale location in June.
The restaurant, located at 3116 N. Pleasantburg Drive, is one of two Greenville locations of Chipotle, with drive-thru pickup for online orders.
Chipotle has three other Greenville locations on Highwood, Woodruff and Pelham roads.
Upstate SC Alliance to move to CU-ICAR
Upstate SC Alliance, a public-private economic development organization, moved July 1 into 5,382 square feet of office space at Clemson University’s International Automotive Research Center in Greenville.
“CU-ICAR’s collaborative, public and private atmosphere is one of the many assets we share to demonstrate how the Upstate meets industrial success, research, workforce development and corporate presence,” said John Lummus, president and CEO of the Upstate SC Alliance. “It’s a great central location to welcome business leaders to the Upstate as they visit the region and explore how their companies can thrive here.”
Spartanburg-based OTO Development has acquired the DoubleTree by Hilton in Florida
Otto Development, a Spartanburg-based hotel development and hospitality management company, has acquired the DoubleTree by Hilton in North Redington Beach, Florida, for an undisclosed sum, the company announced July 18.
The seven-story, 125-room hotel features:
- Beach views from most guest rooms
- Veranda
- Tiki hut near the outdoor pool
- 1,272 square feet of meeting room
This property is the 10th oceanfront property OTO has purchased since the fourth quarter of 2018 and one of seven on the Florida coast.
Greenville planners have updated citizens on the zoning renewal process
Greenville city planners and members of the advisory group help residents update the city’s zoning and land use codes during a virtual presentation July 13.
The effort is part of the city’s strategic GVL2040 vision to improve the city’s livability at a time of rapid growth.
Assistant City Manager Shannon Lavrin opened the meeting and said the seventh installment in the series will explore the work of developing new zoning districts and uses and helping the city shape future development plans.

Plans for the Gateway mixed-use development have received initial approval from the Design Review Board
Mixed-use plans, such as the Greenville Gateway initiative, will be among several applications to receive preliminary approval from a city panel of the city’s Design Review Board at its July 7 meeting.
The panel unanimously approved plans for the project at the old Greenville Memorial Hall, which includes:
- 300 apartments
- 6,600 square feet of commercial space
- 6,700 square feet of restaurant/convenience space
- 335 parking spaces on site
The project is being developed by Miami-based NR Investments, with design being led by Greenville’s Johnston Design Group. Panel approval is limited to project scale and material concepts at this early stage of project design. Project developers plan to present more detailed plans to the panel at a later date.
