Hack the Hyatt status from scratch
Step 1 – Find the test browser mode
If you’re approaching things from an American Airlines elite member perspective, you can now apply for the Hyatt status challenge. In 90 days, you will enjoy Explorist status.
Within those 90 days, you simply need to apply for a level match with MGM Awards. It may not seem like it’s done right, but your MGM Awards account should be upgraded to Gold status within a day or two.
Phase 2 – Before January 31, 2023
MGM Awards status expires on February 1st of each year. So, at some point after your Hyatt status drops below Explorer status (after you haven’t completed the 10 nights of the challenge to maintain Explorer status) and before your MGM Gold status expires, you can apply for a rank match in the opposite direction. …
Your Hyatt account must be upgraded to Explorer status by February 29, 2024. (Especially if they make the stage match in January 2023)
Step 3 – Repeat step match
At some point on or after February 1, 2023, your MGM award status will drop below Gold status. After a few mouse clicks and MGM Rewards, you should be able to use your Hyatt status to upgrade your account to Gold status, which is valid until February 1, 2024.
As long as the level match program exists — and MGM and Hyatt have slightly different expiration dates — you should be able to repeat this process indefinitely.
It hangs on the Hyatt situation.
If you currently enjoy Globalist or Explorer status with World of Hyatt, that status will expire on February 28, 2023.
In February 2023, you simply have to remember to apply for a Level Match with MGM Rewards before your Hyatt status expires at the end of the month.
After your Hyatt status is downgraded to Discovery status (or worse) on March 1, 2023, you can easily convert your MGM Gold status back to Hyatt Explorist status – which is valid until February 29, 2024.
