You create videos for your company and want a way to edit them. There are many different editors available, both paid and free, but one option worth considering is Vimeo. With Vimeo’s cloud-based editor, you can edit your videos and then download or publish them online.

Vimeo offers a free plan that allows you to store and publish videos with very limited editing capabilities. For this reason, you may want to sign up for one of the paid plans, all of which are free trials so you can try before you buy. Once you have an account, simply upload your video to the Vimeo website to edit directly in your browser. Here’s how it works.

First, go to the Vimeo website. Click the Join Free button and create a username and password. After joining, you will be taken to the Video Manager page. If you want to get some inspiration, you can check out existing videos that people have shared here (Figure A).

Return to the Video Manager page where you can view the clip or clips you uploaded. Click the clip you want to edit, and then click the Edit and Cut icon.

It gives you a choice of two different tools. Simply select Trim if you want to trim your video at the beginning and/or end. If you want to do more extensive editing, choose Video Editor.

Let’s test the crop first, so click the Crop button (Image d).

Besides simply editing your video, you can add other elements to make it more creative. Click the text button in the left pane and type the text you want to add to the title or other clip. You can position the text, change its color, adjust its alignment, add a drop shadow, and set a duration to determine how long the text should be visible (Figure H).
