In 2012 people Twitter is a place to talk about what you had for lunch, he joked. In the year The joke in 2022 is where you turn when you want to feel absolutely miserable.
Twitter is hell. We all know. That is the question. why.
My theory: Retweeted. This simple button allows anyone to share someone else’s tweet to their followers, turning posting into a video game with the ultimate goal of getting the attention of many people. There are times when this is great: when someone makes a really funny joke, for example. But the simplicity of the retweet button prompts people to share their own thoughts instead of taking the time to write them down. And the things people love to carelessly share are the things they find annoying.
Take a look at the episode that’s trending right now – I’m sure half of it is “someone said something stupid/offensive/wrong and people went crazy” or some variation on that. I, for one, think Twitter would be a better place without retweets, so I figured out how not to see retweets. It has made my schedule much more stable, and my life less stressful. Here’s how you can do it too.
How to mute all retweets
There is no official way to stop seeing all retweets, but there is a workaround. It’s a bit of a hack, but it works. To get started, open Twitter’s settings and go to Privacy and securityand then Mute and blockor click over here.
To add a new word to mute, click the Add button in the upper right corner. Now, add “RT @”. like this:
