Honeida became the first Saudi fashion label listed on Harrods

In a sign of the Kingdom’s growing prominence on the international fashion scene, Honeida is now the first Saudi label to be registered with Harrods.

The iconic London department store presents pieces from the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2022 collection in its eveningwear department.

“Harrods, now one of the most famous department stores in the world, is proud to announce the latest collection of HONDA,” the official posted on Instagram. “Exclusive selections of the first Saudi fashion graduates available on the evening wear floor. Designer in store.”

The pieces can be found on the first floor of Harrods as part of the Afghan “A charm” collection. It features a bold pattern, billowy hat, playful layering, delicate embellishments, trademark embellishments and rich shades of sunflower yellow, bottle green and royal blue, with an all-white look and soft shades of powder pink.

Oversized tabs are drawn directly from traditional Afghan clothing, while delicate feather detailing adds a touch of femininity.

“A spark ignited within me, just by watching the resilience and strength of Afghan women. Her bold character, determined mind, singular style and mysterious beauty brought me such inspiration that I thought of interpreting many of her qualities in different ways. The images and artistic tables in this Fall/Winter 2022 collection, Says Honeida Serafy, who made her big name in 2017.

The Harrods Development brand has grown beyond its home base with boutiques in Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, France and Panama, the latest international expansion for the brand.

The label is popular with celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra, who wore a white embellished Honeda jumpsuit to the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. She chose to wear two Honoida creations at Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ wedding.

Hailing from an artistic family – her mother is a fashion and art historian and her father a famous patron – Serafy studied Islamic art before moving to Paris to study fashion at the European branch of the prestigious Parsons School of Design.

Her collections draw inspiration from iconic women such as the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who is the inspiration for Seraph’s Spring/Summer 2021 collection. For Fall/Winter 2020, the Saudi Arabian designer reimagined the leader’s armor in sequins and metallics, paying homage to the Berber warrior queen Dihya.
