Hedgecock, Hogs rule Florida in dominant fashion

Fayetteville, Ark. No. 17 Arkansas (24-9) took advantage of a scorching hot day at the plate by beating No. 10 Florida (23-6) 14-1 (5 Hall) at Bogle Park on Sunday afternoon for the program’s first series win. Florida at Bogle Park. Arkansas has won two straight games against the Giants.

Arkansas’ offense scored double-digit runs for the eighth time this season and outscored Florida at a 12-2 clip. Four Arkansas starters recorded plenty of hits at the plate on a day led by redshirt junior Rylin Hedgecock. Hedgecock hit a career high with seven runs and is tying her career highs in home runs (2) and hits (3). The Valdosta, Ga., native went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double and seven RBIs. Hedgecock has 14 home runs on the season.

Fifth-year RHP Chenise Delce (12-4) continued to dominate Sunday afternoon at Florida, recording her ninth complete game of the season and ninth win against an opponent now ranked in ESPN.com/USA Softball’s top-25. The SEC Pitcher of the Year checked a hot Florida offense, allowing one run on two hits while striking out seven over five innings. She refused to walk. Delsea is 5-0 in Florida saves over the past two seasons.

Freshman center fielder Reagan Johnson posted her 12th multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore left fielder Raegan Kramer also blossomed at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs. Freshman catcher Lauren Kamenzind went 2-for-3 with a double and a run. Freshman shortstop Athalia Rijo doubled. Junior first baseman Saili Halvorson doubled. Fifth-year second baseman Christina Foreman hit her third triple of the season.
