At any local Goodwill, you can find Esther Bemah setting up her camera and striking a pose in an outfit she picked up from the thrift store. The blogger is known as “Goodwill Hunter”.

“Goodwill is a place where you can find brand deals at super cheap and affordable prices,” says Bemah. “I found a Ralph Lauren long sleeve dress. The price point was $100, and I believe I got it for $30 or less.”

Bemah is a Goodwill Suncoast blogger and through her Goodwill blog and Instagram shows shoppers that high fashion can come at low prices.

“I always monitor, but I didn’t start blogging about it until 2018,” Bmah said. “Finally Goodwill caught my eye, and I’ve been blogging for them ever since.”

Bemah said she set a spending limit before shopping. Whenever she shops at Goodwill, she says, it usually costs no more than $35.

She brings ideas on how to combine different clothes.

“That’s how I styled it and that’s how much I got it,” Bemah said. “I often tell people that things don’t go as expected because then they’re going to disappoint you.”

Bemah says she can get quite a few items for her money. Usually she can get seven or eight items, but when there are coupons in Goodwill newsletters, those can lead to more items.

She said she usually avoids shopping on weekends and added that her best days are usually Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. She tries to go in the morning when Goodwill opens with full shelves and more variety and options.

Young consumers like Bemah are driving savings growth. Many choose the thrift market over department stores for low cost, sustainability and unique fashion finds.

“Especially for high school girls, you usually go through phases of changing your style at that stage,” Bema said.

This bargain hunt comes with a big purpose.

“When you shop, you’re investing in the lives of others, so we’re glad you came to shop,” he said.
