Gina Prince-Bytewood will receive the Pin of Excellence Award at the Black Business Association’s 2023 Salute to Black Women in Business Conference.
Prince-Bywood is recognized not only for her award-winning directing, writing and producing work, but also for her decades-long work and philanthropic efforts, one of which included providing scholarships to black students at UCLA’s film program.

Along with Prince-Bytewood were Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, California Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove, retired NBC4 reporter Beverly White, retired radio personality Pat Prescott, California Black Media Executive Regina Brown Wilson, and authors Cynthia E. The day-long celebration will include a red carpet, awards luncheon, dessert reception, vendor showcase and panel discussions, such as “Role Models of Success” and “Seasons of Greatness.”

The Black Business Association is the oldest active tribal business advocacy organization in the state of California, according to its website. Since 1970, he has been instrumental in the growth and development of thousands of black-owned businesses locally and nationally, aiming to create a strong economic base for black and urban communities.
