Gani Spring 2023 Collection Review

With practical versatility and shiny black dresses, Gani’s Joyride collection evoked the carefree Copenhagen style that Joy de Vire creative director Ditt Refstrup sought to convey. Opened against the backdrop of a sunset, on a pier covered in colorful chalk drawings, the Spring 2023 editorial was inspired by a cycling trip through Denmark. “We called it Joyride because Copenhagen is where our hearts are,” Refstrup wrote in an official statement. “There’s a feeling I can’t describe about being in the city in the winter, it’s draining, it really gets your pulse going.”

The catwalk opened with versatile head-to-toe blue denim looks, consisting of a cropped jacket and mid-rise jeans with nothing to wear underneath. It’s the first of a trio of denim looks that kicks off a collaboration with Levi’s. The ready-to-wear label has worked with British heritage brand Barbour on a utilitarian jacket and Icelandic activewear label 66° North on coordinated jackets and collections.

Other offerings range from colorful crop tops to textured mini and midi dresses, all with an air of playfulness. Taking that theme a step further, the models completed their daywear with patterned cowboy boots and high-handled clutch bags. For evening gowns, the brand offers some glamorous options, including a blazer dress in a sheer shade of blue, an embroidered off-the-shoulder dress in black and a shimmery, slip-on slip.

Leave it to Ghani to interpret the current fashion trends – from reimagined denim to statement dresses – into off-duty looks with a distinctive Scandinavian edge. What the collection lacked in versatility it made up for with the variety of options featured on the various models.

Ahead, check out our favorite looks from the Spring 2023 collection.
