The most recent major project to find a foundation park is hiring – and other businesses may follow.
FedEx Ground opened its 340,000-square-foot distribution center in northwest Siwok Putte Park last autumn and hired full-time and part-time team members.
The operation has contracted with local service providers to pick up and deliver the package, and has been hired locally for driver, assistant, administrator and other positions.
“The site was chosen because of its ease of access to major highways, proximity to customer distribution centers, and the hiring of strong local community staff,” said Dana Harddeck, senior communications specialist at FedEx Ground.
FedEx is a tenant of the Indianapolis-based Scanel Property.
“As one of the largest industrial builders in the country, Scanel Character has become accustomed to working with many landlords and municipalities. We could not have asked for a better integration on this project,” said Scannel Development Director Tom McCarthy.
“It was a great opportunity to work with both Sixty City and the Sixty Water Development Development Foundation; they both contributed to the approval of this project and the completion of it as soon as possible. We sincerely hope to have more projects in Sixty in the future.”
FedEx Project Sioux Water Development Development Foundation When it was built in 2016, it was an example of the kind of business the Foundation Park intended, said President and CEO Bob Mundt.
“Our two targets came here with large warehouses and distribution with manufacturing, and it will be there soon,” he said. “We are trying to find a first-class employer like FedEx to expand into Sioux Falls, employ more people, and provide better long-term employment opportunities in this park.”
FedEx Ground is hiring for Supervisor Supervisors in the area of Sioux Falls.

Banana Electric and Dead Technology will be built this year at the Foundation Park at the new Sioux Falls site, Mundt said.
“And we will continue to see the needs of others in the southern part of the park for distribution and lighting production,” he said. “We have a lot of stations left by train and we are looking at the rest of our land on the south side to make sure we focus on the higher and better use at the moment.”
The Development Foundation is developing the northern part of the park and is preparing for construction.
“We are stumbling on the roads and we will have strong paved roads next year,” Mundt said.
That’s what the CJ Foods is moving forward with, and perhaps this year could break the ground for the Asian food industry, Mundt said.
“We are actively working with CJ, and they are now designing the facility to ensure that they can accommodate their growth and expansion,” he said.
He said the Development Foundation will continue to work with the hopes of the future.
“Currently, interest rates and inflation and market uncertainty are a little more conservative, so they are really looking at projects to get them back and into the budget, so it will take more time. But we are still working on the process with a lot of promise to make decisions.”
