Fitbit Inspire 3, Versa 4, Sense 2: Price, Specifications, Release Dates

In other ways, Fitbits are even an improvement on the Apple Watch. For example, both trackers offer a full week of battery life and a day’s worth of battery charging in 12 minutes.

Some Google-led feature changes, such as turn-by-turn directions in Google Maps and Google Pay in Google Wallet, are expected to come to these wearables, but have yet to appear at launch.

Versa 4 is even more optimized for working out with built-in GPS and 40 different exercise modes. However, the Sense 2 now has a new body response sensor. When measuring stress on the first impression, place your hand on the watch’s metal band. Instead of spot testing, Sense 2 continuously monitors your electrodermal activity along with heart rate, heart rate variability and skin temperature to help identify your stress triggers. A registry key asks you to de-stress with stress management tools like guided breathing.

Both watches are also significantly lighter and slimmer than previous iterations. The Versa and Sens lines include accessories designed by the Black-owned Velis Brothers. There are also Infinity Band options—definitely a take on Apple’s Solo Loop. Like the Inspire 3, daily readiness scores, sleep profiles and advanced stress management metrics are accessible with a Fitbit Premium subscription. At least Fitbit offers six months of Fitbit Premium free with the purchase of any tracker.

Although the Apple Watch continues to dominate the smartwatch market, I still love the charm and simplicity of Fitbit’s designs. Google is set to buy Fitbit Google Better to compete with Apple, but it wasn’t entirely clear that that meant the Fitbit wearables themselves would be better and smarter. This means that Wear OS fitness trackers could be a little less clunky and annoying to use thanks to an injection of Fitbit’s DNA.

But small, significant improvements that marry both companies’ respective expertise, like better battery life and Fitbit’s advanced health features? It’s something we can take back. Now if only something could be done about that annoying Fitbit Premium subscription.
