After two years of online-only events, taped fashion shows and socially distanced plane rides, Fashion Week Minnesota is returning in full in person for Fall 2022. With six fashion shows, one expert panel and a shop-and-sip soiree, FWMN’s focus is to highlight the talent, strength and creativity that abounds in Minnesota’s fashion industry.
“Our goals are to always elevate the love of the North, elevate our talent, and enhance the work we’ve done and created,” said Susan Lepke, COO of FWMN. “Minnesota is known for a lot of great things, and we should be known for the types of designers and artists we have here.”
After an eternity of sweatpants and oversized t-shirts, Lepke knows Minnesotans are ready to get out and dress up — and the designers hosting this season’s FWMN feel the same way.
“We’re still in the epiphany, but we want to express ourselves more fluidly through our clothing,” Lepke said. “People are becoming more unique in their style. They’re going to add more flair, or panache, or more personality to the items we see.
Think silk, lace, detailed fit. A tribute to the 1920s in bright colors. The juxtaposition of the classic and the modern plays with the themes surrounding the fashion events dominating the Twin Cities this week. With a focus on sustainability, inclusivity and accessibility, and the future of fashion, Lepkke believes FWMN Fall 2022 will bring the power that fashion plays on creativity and realism.
“We’re in a difficult time, and we want to really see what’s going on in our world today and marry that with what our community is doing in that space.”
