A model call will be held on September 10, 2022 from 3:00pm-5:00pm at 215 East Washington Street, Walterboro for the December Walterboro Walk Fashion Show. Models between the ages of five and seventy who want to participate in the fashion show are invited. The organizer also wants three luxury cars to be used in conjunction with the event.
At the model call, photographers shoot on location, and local designers and boutique owners are encouraged to come out and choose models to use to showcase their wares on the Walterboro Walk.
The fashion show is the love project of Pasqua Nelson, owner of a local boutique and modeling/talent agency. Nelson has been with the Colleton Arts Council for five years and has hosted various fashion shows in and around Walterboro.
Nelson hopes to highlight local fashion and specialty boutiques through the Walterboro Walk, which will take place at the Colleton County Farmers Market on December 17, 2022. Boutique owners donate clothes to the fashion show, and in return receive stunning images to use in their advertising and social media posts. Models and photographers (invited to participate and shoot without payment) receive photos for their portfolios. Nelson’s goal is to create an event where everyone can participate.
Children are especially invited to participate in the model call. Nelson said she enjoys seeing their reactions when they dress up for an event. “They ask if the audience is really looking at them, and I say yes, they are definitely looking at you!” she laughed. Nelson believes that participating in events such as fashion shows can boost self-confidence and help build many important life skills in youth.
