Donald Trump has attacked General Mark Milley, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, after several new books explained how the top U.S. military official was concerned that the former president was trying to stage a coup in his last days the White House.
The Washington Post reported Thursday that Milley feared a “Reichstag moment” and compared Trump to Adolf Hitler while Trump refused to acknowledge the results of the November presidential election, according to the book. Milley walked with Trump through Lafayette Square in June last year after police cleared protesters of the area in front of the White House.
