Fans of Disney’s Dreamlight Valley on Nintendo Switch may be tempted to use their console’s internal clock to jump forward in time, but it can have a devastating effect on save files – even rendering them unusable.
Disney’s Dreamlight Valley combines relaxing, slice-of-life gameplay with iconic Disney characters to create a unique and comfortable game for fans of both genres. Similar to Animal Crossing, Dreamlight Valley syncs with the console’s real-time clock, determining the time of day displayed when players navigate.
Unfortunately, this real-time gameplay isn’t always the best for everyone. They may not have sleeping characters to play at night, or some may tire of the constant day/night hours of decorating and farming.
The solution to this (which was a popular solution in Animal Crossing: New Horizons) is to “time travel” by setting the console clock back or forward to the desired in-game time. However, this can have dire consequences for the early admission game at Disney’s Dreamlight Valley.

A few fixes have been made to reset spells in Disney’s Dreamlight Valley, however, they don’t seem to be very effective on the Switch. Additionally, the spawns are reported to be inconsistent after fixation, making growth impossible.
While some were able to wait for the consequences of time travel, others were not so lucky, and had to start the game from the beginning. This is a frustrating and costly fix, especially for players who have completed multiple missions or unlocked multiple locations on the map.
Unfortunately, due to these issues, it is not recommended that players use the time travel cheat at this time. Waiting for a character to activate can be tedious, and while it doesn’t fit into real-life schedule conflicts during players’ playtime, it’s certainly better than having to restart saves – especially in a game that only offers one save file.
