Annapolis, Md (August 29, 2022) – Anne Arundel County residents can now pre-register for the monkeypox vaccine. Currently, the supply of vaccine is very limited and the county, under the guidance of the Maryland Department of Health, will only offer vaccinations to a limited number of eligible residents who are at highest risk of contracting the virus. Monkeypox vaccinations are free and based on availability.
This form does not mean you have an appointment for the vaccine. Once appointments become available, individuals who have pre-registered will receive an email invitation to make a vaccination appointment.
Residents who are identified by public health officials as close contacts of current monkeypox cases will continue to be offered vaccination. Public health staff will be working with infectious disease doctors, community-based nonprofit organizations and federally qualified health centers to identify residents who could be at highest risk and are contacting them directly to offer an opportunity to be vaccinated. As vaccine supply increases, additional residents who are at-risk will be identified and offered vaccination.
Currently, monkeypox vaccinations will be offered to:
- People with close contact with someone with monkeypox.
- Gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men who have had intimate or sexual contact with new, multiple or anonymous partners in the last 14 days and with high risk medical conditions.
Vaccine will be made available to each eligible individual based on risk factors and no one will be denied a vaccine based on race, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, economic or citizenship status.
